California Opt-Out Preference Signals (AB 566 / Civil Code §1798.136)
Beginning January 1, 2027, Beau will honor browser-based opt-out preference signals in accordance with Section 1798.136 of the California Civil Code (the “California Opt Me Out Act”). An opt-out preference signal is a mechanism that conveys a consumer’s choice to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information.
1. Recognition of Opt-Out Preference Signals
Where your browser or device sends an opt-out preference signal that complies with applicable law (such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) or any successor standard), we will treat that signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
2. Browser Functionality Requirements (For Reference)
Under AB 566, businesses that develop or maintain browsers must, by January 1, 2027, provide consumers with functionality that allows the browser to send opt-out preference signals. This Privacy Policy section is intended to reflect our compliance with these new requirements for businesses that receive such signals.
3. How the Signal Affects Your Privacy Choices
When we receive a valid opt-out preference signal from your browser or device:
We will treat it as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information for that browser or device.
You may still choose to exercise additional privacy rights under the CCPA/CPRA through our other available methods (such as online forms or account settings).
We may ask you to confirm or supplement the signal if needed to associate it with your account or identity.
4. Transparency About Opt-Out Signals
We will clearly disclose in this Privacy Policy or related notices:
How we process opt-out preference signals,
The scope of their effect, and
Any steps you may take to verify or manage your settings.
5. No Liability for Browser Developers
To the extent applicable, we recognize that businesses developing or maintaining browsers with opt-out preference signal functionality are not liable for our handling of those signals.
6. Additional Rights Under California Law
Your rights under California law—including the rights to access, delete, or correct your personal information—remain unchanged and may be exercised in addition to any opt-out request transmitted through your browser.
